3 more vaccine developers get ethics board nod

Three more coronavirus vaccine developers — Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, Clover Biopharmaceuticals, and AstraZeneca — have been approved by the ethics review board for clinical trials.

Janssen and Clover joined AstraZeneca in securing approval from the Department of Health's Ethics Review Board on Monday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that vaccine manufacturers must secure approvals from both the Vaccine Expert Panel under the Department of Science and Technology and the ethics review board before applying to the Food and Drug Administration for further evaluation.
