Isko Moreno files for Manila mayor under Aksyon Demokratiko

Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has officially filed his candidacy for mayor under Aksyon Demokratiko on Tuesday morning, while incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna is running for reelection under Asenso Manileño.

Moreno's vice mayoral candidate remains Chi Atienza, daughter of former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza, who is also seeking a political comeback as a Buhay Party-list representative. Meanwhile, Lacuna chose Vice Mayor Yul Servo as her running mate; both are former actors turned politicians with significant experience in city governance.

In 2019, Moreno and Lacuna ran together and won their respective positions, forming a strong partnership that continued during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, their political relationship was strained when Moreno pursued the presidency in 2022 and subsequently handed over the mayoral seat to Lacuna upon his defeat.

Moreno recently spoke with Lacuna about reclaiming his mayoral post but she declined, stating it is her right to run for reelection. Moreno expressed respect towards Lacuna despite their political rivalry.

Tutok To Win Party-list Representative Sam Verzosa also filed his certificate of candidacy for mayor in Manila last Sunday, joining the race alongside Moreno and Lacuna.
