Imee Marcos remains independent despite Alyansa events

On Tuesday, February 18, Senator Imee Marcos clarified that she remains an independent candidate for the May 2025 elections despite attending several campaign events of Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Marcos attended the Laoag sortie on February 11 and the Iloilo sortie on February 13, citing pressure from family and friends and her presence in the province due to an invitation from a local official.

At a press briefing in the Senate, she emphasized her opposition to mudslinging and negative campaigning, advocating instead for positive communication about achievements and future plans.

Marcos expressed discomfort with criticizing opponents and noted that she would still attend Alyansa's rally in Pasay City later on February 18, highlighting the city's support for her family in previous elections.

Despite potential criticisms regarding her loyalty, Marcos stated her intention to continue her independent campaign without engaging in conflicts.
