Pasig mayoral candidate Ian Sia faces show cause order over 'sex for single mothers' joke

Pasig congressional candidate Ian Sia accused Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto and his political opponents of deliberately turning his 'sex for single mothers' joke into a national issue on Friday, April 4.

Sia claimed that his jest was being manipulated to divert attention from real issues facing the city, but according to him, it was just meant as a joke to engage an impatient audience.

Mayor Sotto dismissed these claims and issued a statement condemning Sia's remarks, while Pasig City Councilor Angelu de Leon called them offensive and disrespectful.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) issued a show cause order against Sia for possible violations of Comelec Resolution No. 11116, which prohibits gender-based harassment and public ridicule during the election period.
