Conde criticizes Sia, Villafuerte for vulgarity

Filipino human rights advocate Caloy Conde criticized the vulgar language used by politicians like Pasig congressional candidate Ian Sia and Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative Luis Raymund 'LRay' Villafuerte.

Conde questioned why politicians themselves are being vulgar, referencing Villafuerte's controversial remarks made during his son Migz's birthday celebration in 2024.

Villafuerte delivered sexually suggestive pick-up lines to the crowd, which resurfaced on social media in January and sparked criticism from netizens and organizations like the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

The PCW condemned the remarks for perpetuating harmful stereotypes about women and undermining gender equality efforts.

The CHR also issued a statement reminding candidates to ensure that electoral discourse remains respectful and free from discrimination, misogyny, and hate.

Villafuerte defended his remarks, claiming they were meant to entertain and asserting that people enjoyed them, while labeling critics as envious and spreading fake news.
