House Quad Committee invites Duterte to testify on drug lord killings

The House Quad Committee has invited former President Rodrigo Duterte to appear at their hearing regarding allegations of his involvement in the killings of three Chinese drug lords inside a Davao prison in 2016.

During Thursday’s probe, inmates Leopoldo Tan Jr. and Fernando Magdadaro testified that they were approached by law enforcement officers connected to the Duterte administration and instructed to carry out the murders in exchange for their freedom.

Tan claimed he heard Supt. Gerardo Padilla receive a congratulatory phone call from someone who sounded like Duterte after the killings.

Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. moved that Duterte be invited to address these allegations, which was seconded and approved by Surigao del Norte 1st District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers.

The House Quad Committee continues to investigate alleged extrajudicial killings during Duterte's administration, including previous accusations involving his daughter, Davao City 1st District Rep. Sara Duterte.
