House leaders say NBI report strengthens VP Duterte's impeachment case

Leaders of the House of Representatives on Wednesday said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recommendation to file charges against Vice President Sara Duterte strengthens their impeachment case.

Deputy Majority Leader Paolo Ortega emphasized that the NBI's findings reinforce the need for a thorough examination during the impeachment trial, calling it a 'crucial step' in upholding the Constitution.

Ako-Bicol Party-list Rep. Jil Bongalon noted that the NBI found sufficient evidence to support allegations of grave threats and inciting to sedition against Duterte, which strengthens their position.

House Assistant Majority Leader Ernesto Dionisio stressed the importance of accountability at the highest levels of government, stating that anyone who violates the law must be held accountable.

The impeachment complaint filed on February 5 includes allegations of corruption, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes.
