PHP35M, 17,500 food packs for flood-affected Davao districts

The House of Representatives, in partnership with President Marcos Jr., is providing PHP35 million and 17,500 food packs as immediate assistance for seven congressional districts affected by flooding and landslides in the Davao Region.

Speaker Ferdinand Romualdez emphasized the urgency of delivering aid to nearly 45,000 families impacted by heavy rains from a shear line last Tuesday.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development will release PHP5 million to each district through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program, with an additional 2,500 food packs for each district.

Romualdez's office is coordinating closely with the DSWD to ensure swift delivery of aid, which includes support for reconstruction efforts, medical assistance, and displaced families.

Tingog Party-list representatives Yedda Romualdez and Jude Acidre reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the assistance reaches those most in need.

Seven people were reported killed and five missing in Monkayo town, Davao de Oro province, following a landslide caused by heavy rains and the shear line on Thursday.
