Magnolia Chicken Timplados dominate Blackwater 106-84 in PBA opener

The Magnolia Hotshots, now known as the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, dominated the Blackwater Bossing in their PBA Philippine Cup opener with a score of 106-84 on Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Magnolia had a balanced scoring attack led by Zav Lucero who scored 21 points and seven rebounds, followed by Ian Sangalang's 15 points and ten rebounds.

Despite trailing by as much as 17 points in the second quarter, Blackwater managed to cut the deficit to seven before Magnolia pulled away with an 18-2 run in the third quarter, extending their lead significantly.

Magnolia's bench was pivotal, contributing significantly with 66 points compared to Blackwater's 17, while Magnolia shot an impressive 54.3% from the field.

Christian David topped Blackwater's scoring effort with 31 points and five rebounds, followed by Sedrick Barefield who added 24 points, seven assists, and four rebounds.

Both teams will face the Converge FiberXers in their upcoming games; Magnolia on Wednesday and Blackwater next Sunday.
