Hospitals overwhelmed by COVID-19 surge

Hospitals are overwhelmed and overran due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to PHAP president Dr. Jaime Almora, hospitals are struggling with depleted and overworked staff.

Dr. Jose Rene de Grano from the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines stated that official occupancy rates do not include waitlisted patients or those being transferred to other facilities.

Almora warned that the country has already 'lost' in its fight against the virus, two days after recording a record-high 10,016 new infections.
