Suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo skips Senate hearing on POGO issues

Suspended Bamban Mayor Alice L. Guo skipped the continuation of a Senate panel hearing on Wednesday related to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), with the committee now issuing subpoenas for her and other family members.

Senator Risa Hontiveros warned that if Guo continues to skip the Senate hearings, she may face contempt charges.

Hontiveros emphasized that despite Guo's claim of being unfit as a resource person, she is considered one of the key individuals in addressing issues of identity and citizenship by the committee and has already been warned about facing legal consequences for non-compliance with subpoenas.

The National Bureau of Investigation confirmed on Thursday last week that Alice Guo holds a fake Philippine ID after her fingerprints matched those of a Chinese passport holder named Guo Hua Ping, raising further questions regarding her involvement in illegal POGO operations.

Documents show connections between Guo and Zun Yuan Technology Inc., an illegal POGO center located in Bamban, with evidence suggesting her personal involvement in the operation of this center.

The Philippine Statistics Authority has submitted a request to the Office of the Solicitor General to revoke Guo's birth certificate due to questions about her citizenship.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration has issued an immigration arrest warrant for Guo and related individuals suspected of being involved with illegal POGOs in Bamban.
