Estrada calls for AMLC to freeze Bamban mayor’s assets over money laundering probe

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada is calling for the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to freeze suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo's assets as part of an ongoing investigation.

Estrada emphasized that such a move would be crucial in preventing the disposition of purportedly illegally acquired assets and safeguarding public funds.

The senator also urged authorities to investigate the broader scope of illegal activities associated with POGOs, noting that these have expanded into money laundering.

Earlier this month, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian called for an investigation into Guo's possible involvement in money laundering and highlighted the need for stricter monitoring.

Documents uncovered during Senate investigations revealed Guo's personal involvement in processing documents for a raided POGO hub, raising questions about her citizenship due to inconsistent testimonies.
