Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 4

Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 4 as of Wednesday, January 15, with a hazardous eruption possible within hours to days.

Since Sunday, January 12, Phivolcs has recorded over 466 volcanic earthquakes, with 159 occurring in the last 24 hours alone.

The generally weaker eruption observed on Wednesday does not indicate a subsiding unrest; rather, it is a normal phase in volcanic activity.

Ashfall from Taal Volcano was reported in areas southwest of the main crater and affected nearby provinces including Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal, and Metro Manila.
