Hataman clan vies for Basilan’s top posts, 2025

Members of the influential Hataman clan are vying for key political positions in Basilan's May 2025 elections.

Incumbent Basilan Lone District Rep. Mujiv Hataman filed his certificate of candidacy for governor under the Basilan Unity Party-Liberal Party on Tuesday, October 8.

Three days earlier, Jimael Salam Hataman-Salliman, a nephew and 2nd District Board Member, submitted his COC for governor under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas on Monday, October 7.

Jimael's brother, Vice Mayor Kifli Hataman-Salliman, filed his COC for mayor on October 3, while their father, Gov. Hadjiman Hataman-Salliman, is running for vice governor.

Maluso Mayor Hanie Bud also filed his certificate of candidacy for congressman.

Vice Mayor Kifli emphasized the importance of focusing on candidates' platforms rather than personal or familial ties during the campaign period.

Meanwhile, Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman is running for a third term as mayor.
