Habagat strands passengers, vessels at ports

Hundreds of people remain stranded at ports across the Philippines due to inclement weather as reported by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday.

As of 4:00 a.m., 278 passengers, truck drivers, and cargo helpers were stranded at 23 ports nationwide, along with 105 rolling cargoes and 14 vessels.

On Tuesday, the PCG reported that it is closely monitoring six specific ports in Siquijor, southern Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Mogpog, and Cavite Gateway due to persisting bad weather conditions caused by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Currently, 21 passengers and one vessel are stranded at the Cavite Gateway Terminal, while six vessels and 47 motorbancas are taking shelter there.

In Lazi Port, two vessels and four motorbancas have taken refuge due to the ongoing weather conditions.
