PAGASA forecasts scattered rain, thunderstorms due to habagat, LPA

PAGASA issued a forecast predicting scattered rain showers and thunderstorms across several parts of the country due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) and an LPA near Catarman, Northern Samar.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, northern Palawan, Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Northern Samar, Samar, and Eastern Samar.

Residents of affected areas are warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, particularly in regions recovering from recent flooding caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon.

In the next few days, the southwest monsoon is expected to weaken but may still bring thunderstorms, especially from afternoon to evening.

Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Eastern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao due to the habagat and a low-pressure area (LPA) near Catarman in Northern Samar, which is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression.
