Habagat brings scattered rains, thunderstorms; tropical depression outside PAR

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, continues to affect parts of Luzon and Visayas on Friday, August 1, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, according to PAGASA.

A Tropical Depression is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), located at 1,365 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness up to 55 kph.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, and Zambales, with moderate to heavy rains potentially causing flash floods or landslides.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail in Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Visayas, while localized thunderstorms may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over Mindanao.

Moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough seas are expected across extreme northern Luzon and the western section of Luzon, while light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters are anticipated elsewhere in the country.
