Grab launches electric taxi service in Metro Manila

Ride-hailing app Grab Philippines has launched fully electric taxi services in Metro Manila as part of its commitment to sustainable urban transport.

The all-electric vehicle (EV) fleet, a partnership with EV Taxi Corp., includes Changan's Eado EV460 model and operates in key hubs such as Makati, Taguig, Pasig, Mandaluyong, Parañaque, and Pasay.

Grab Philippines emphasized that the beta rollout of GrabTaxi Electric aims to integrate sustainability into daily routines while gathering real-time feedback from passengers and drivers for future improvements.

This service launch marks a significant regulatory and operational milestone in the Philippines, where traditional combustion-engine vehicles still dominate the mobility landscape.

Currently, the electric vehicle fleet is available only to select users as part of its beta phase, with plans to expand to cities like Davao and Cagayan de Oro within the year.

In-app sustainability features such as voluntary contributions for environmental conservation efforts are also being introduced alongside deeper collaboration with government and private-sector partners to accelerate EV ecosystem readiness nationwide.
