Marcos adopts Cebu’s rice app for BBM Na rollout

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced Monday in Dumanjug, Cebu, that the national government will adopt Cebu's distribution system, including their app, for the rollout of the PHP20 per kg rice sale program called 'Benteng Bigas Meron (BBM) Na.'

The DA launched a pilot rollout of the BBM Na program in Cebu on May 1 to ensure stable and affordable food supply for Filipinos.

Marcos said the app will help with an organized rollout, starting at Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) sites in Metro Manila after the May 12 midterm polls.

In Cebu alone, seven KNP sites are operational under the program, expected to benefit around 800,000 families or 4 million individuals across Visayas and Negros Island Region.

The DA rescheduled the BBM Na rollout in Metro Manila due to Comelec's 'ayuda ban' from May 2 to 12, with launch at 19 KNP sites starting May 13.

President Marcos praised Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Fiel Garcia-Codilla for her province's successful distribution system and requested that the national government replicate it.
