Barangay Ginebra leads PBA Finals 3-2 after defeating TNT

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel secured a crucial 3-2 series lead in the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals after defeating TNT Tropang Giga with a 73-66 victory in Game 5 on Sunday, March 23.

Scottie Thompson and Justin Brownlee were instrumental in Barangay Ginebra's win, with Thompson contributing a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Brownlee scored 18 points despite playing with a dislocated thumb.

Thompson emphasized the importance of returning to the mountaintop after years without winning a PBA championship and highlighted the team's execution as key to their success in Game 5.

Ginebra used a pivotal 12-2 run in the third quarter to keep up with TNT before clinching victory with key plays from Thompson down the stretch, including an 8-0 closing run by Ginebra.

Barangay Ginebra now has a chance to clinch the championship in Game 6 on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
