Ginebra secures semis spot with win over Meralco

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel secured their spot in the semifinals of the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup with a narrow win against Meralco Bolts on Monday night, completing a three-game sweep and avenging their playoff exit last summer.

Ginebra triumphed 113-106, extending their winning streak over Meralco in playoff series to four consecutive years.

Coach Tim Cone praised his players' collective effort, highlighting key contributions from Stephen Holt (19 points), Japeth Aguilar (19 points), Scottie Thompson (16 points), and Maverick Ahanmisi (17 points).

Ginebra rallied from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter with Holt scoring crucial points to secure their victory despite Meralco's strong performance led by Allen Durham who scored 38 points.

Justin Brownlee led Ginebra with 23 points, while RJ Abarrientos contributed 17 points, including key plays late in the game.

Ginebra will now face the winner between San Miguel Beermen and Converge FiberXers in the semifinals.
