Gilas Pilipinas women lose to Chinese Taipei, finish with 1-4 record

The Gilas Pilipinas women's basketball team concluded their run at the William Jones Cup with a lopsided 76-57 loss against Chinese Taipei on Sunday in Taiwan.

Despite an early lead, Gilas struggled to maintain their advantage and finished the tournament with a 1-4 win-loss record after losses to Japan and South Korea earlier in the week.

Vanessa de Jesus led the team with a near double-double of 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals; Naomi Panganiban added 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Jack Animam was heavily guarded throughout the game and finished with seven points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.

The team will now prepare for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup next month as they aim to qualify for the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.
