Gilas Pilipinas beats Jordan 75-61 in closed-door tuneup

Gilas Pilipinas secured a 75-61 victory over Jordan in a closed-door tuneup game on Sunday morning (Philippine time) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Philippines maintained their halftime lead of 40-29 and relied on key three-pointers from Scottie Thompson, Calvin Oftana, Dwight Ramos, and Kevin Quiambao to seal the win, building momentum for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup.

This match was a rematch following Gilas' gold medal victory over Jordan at the 19th Asian Games in 2023, marking the country's first gold medal in more than six decades.

Head coach Tim Cone emphasized that these friendly games provide crucial insights into the team’s readiness for the tournament.

Gilas will face Chinese Taipei on Wednesday morning at 2 a.m. Manila time in their opening game of the FIBA Asia Cup, followed by matches against New Zealand and Iraq.
