Gilas Pilipinas climbs to 34th in FIBA rankings

Gilas Pilipinas has climbed four places to reach 34th in the FIBA men's rankings as of August 10, 2024, following their performance in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament and the Paris Olympics.

During the FIBA OQT, Gilas secured a surprising victory against Latvia and advanced to the semis despite losing to Georgia.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio expressed satisfaction with the improvement but emphasized that their goal is to continue improving in international competition.

Gilas Pilipinas will face New Zealand on November 21 and Hong Kong on November 24 at the Mall of Asia Arena as part of its preparations for the FIBA Asia Cup in 2025.

The United States retains the top spot, while Serbia climbed to second place after Spain fell to sixth position.

Germany remains at third place, France moved up five spots to fourth, and Canada advanced two spots to fifth.
