Gerville Luistro elected as House Committee on Justice chair

Batangas Representative Gerville Luistro has been appointed as the chairperson of the House Committee on Justice following a motion by House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos during Wednesday's plenary session.

The committee oversees matters related to justice administration, the Judiciary, legal aid, penitentiaries, and impeachment complaints, with Luistro also serving as part of the prosecution in the ongoing impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Other newly elected chairpersons for various committees include Quezon Rep. Mark Enverga for Agriculture and Food, Camarines Sur Rep. Anthony Horibata for Aquaculture and Fisheries Resources, Manila Rep. Irwin Tieng for Banks and Financial Intermediaries, Cavite Rep. Aniela Tolentino as chair of the Climate Change Committee, Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez for Constitutional Amendments, and Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre for Higher and Technical Education.

Additionally, Ramon Jolo Revilla III from Cavite was elected as the new chairperson of the Committee on Labor and Employment, vowing to work on laws for fair wages.

The newly appointed committee leaders will oversee a range of issues from basic education to energy and foreign affairs, reflecting the diverse responsibilities of the House committees.
