Ex-police officer testifies on 'Davao model', denies involvement

Retired police colonel Royina Garma testified before the House of Representatives' quad committee on Friday that a Major Albotra from Region 7, now a lieutenant colonel, bragged about his involvement in the assassination of former Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili.

Garma revealed that during Duterte's administration, a 'Davao model' was adopted where officers involved in killing drug suspects were rewarded, leading to further scrutiny of past government practices.

In response to Garma’s allegations, Lt. Col. Kenneth Paul Albotra denied any involvement and expressed pity for her confusion.

Albotra stated that the claims made by Garma are not true and there is no evidence supporting them.

The committee has invited Major Albotra for the next hearing to further investigate his alleged role in Halili's assassination.
