Supermarket, convenience store looted during STS Kristine

A local supermarket in Naga City, Camarines Sur, lost approximately one million pesos worth of goods due to looting during Severe Tropical Storm Kristine on Wednesday morning.

In a separate incident, a convenience store in Barangay Bagumbayan Sur was also looted after its glass wall was shattered by strong winds and heavy rains, allowing individuals to steal items.

Photos showed people wading through floodwaters carrying packs from the supermarket, indicating the extent of the looting at both locations.

The supermarket planned to partner with local groups for relief distribution but was unable to proceed due to the loss of their stock, while the convenience store's theft disrupted its operations.

Branded items like wines and cigarettes were stolen from both stores, leaving management unsure how to recover from these incidents.

Additionally, a false claim circulating on social media that the supermarket was giving away free groceries has been debunked by the store.
