Fire at commercial site near Manila Cathedral controlled

A fire broke out in a commercial establishment near Manila Cathedral in Intramuros on Saturday morning.

Thick white smoke was visible around 8 a.m., prompting the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to raise the second alarm at 8:07 a.m.

By 9:01 a.m., BFP Manila District Fire Marshal Aristotle Bañaga announced that the fire was under control, and it was fully extinguished by 9:10 a.m. with assistance from 14 firetrucks.

No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident, which began around 8 a.m. on Beaterio St. near Cabildo.

The BFP is investigating to determine the cause of the fire and assess structural damage, including damage to a bank branch located within the affected building.
