Filipinos prioritize job creation, food security in May elections

According to the latest Stratbase-Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Thursday, May 1, nine out of ten Filipinos prioritize job creation and food security in the upcoming May 2025 elections.

The survey shows that 93% of respondents want candidates who can address job opportunities and agricultural development to ensure food availability.

Healthcare system improvements rank third with 91% support, while workers' rights and the welfare of overseas Filipino workers are also important at 88%

Voters are concerned about reducing poverty and hunger, which has affected up to 63% of households, the highest level in 21 years.

Stratbase President Dindo Manhit urges voters to scrutinize candidates' track records and platforms on job creation and other key issues, noting that promises should be backed by clear programs and a history of action.

Other significant concerns include controlling the prices of basic services and goods (85%), equal access to education (85%), addressing climate change impacts and enhancing disaster preparedness (83%).
