Filipino voters prioritize affordable goods, healthcare in May elections

According to the latest OCTA Research survey released on Saturday, affordability of basic goods and services and enhancement of healthcare are top concerns for Filipino voters in the May 2025 elections.

The non-commissioned survey of 1,200 adult respondents found that 53% prioritized affordable basic goods and services, followed by enhancing healthcare (50%) and securing a stable food supply through agricultural sector strengthening (47%).

Filipinos also expressed concerns about job opportunities (41%) and addressing poverty and hunger issues (38%), reflecting the electorate's desire for candidates who can address economic and social well-being.

Majority of respondents support candidates advocating affordable basic goods, except in Mindanao and Class E, while those supporting healthcare improvement are lower in Mindanao (37%) and Class D voters (48%).

The survey highlighted that combating illegal drugs (38%) and fighting crime (32%) were also significant issues among voters, with the highest percentage recorded in Mindanao.

OCTA Research noted that 18% of respondents will likely vote for a candidate who advocates defending Philippine territory, especially in the West Philippine Sea.

The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews from April 10 to 16, 2025 with a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
