DOH reports two more COVID-19 deaths, total toll rises to eight

As of Saturday, March 14, the Department of Health (DOH) reported two additional deaths from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), raising the national death toll to eight.

The latest fatalities include one patient in Pampanga and another whose details are still being gathered by DOH.

On Friday, a Filipino patient died at Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, marking the first local transmission of the disease resulting in death.

Prior to these deaths, three more fatalities were confirmed on Thursday, March 12, bringing the total to five at that time. These included a couple from Rizal province and an elderly woman from Pasig City who had no travel history outside the Philippines.

The DOH continues to monitor and provide updates on new cases and fatalities as the country's alert level remains under Code Red Sub-level 2 with 64 confirmed infections.
