Philippines Olympic team wears Sinag barong for Paris opening

Team Philippines will wear custom-designed barong pieces named Sinag for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Inspired by the sun's rays and symbolizing hope and pride, the Sinag is crafted by designer Francis Libiran to highlight cultural heritage and heroism.

The barong uses pina-jusi fabric from Kalibo, Aklan, with a detachable contemporary silk organdy sling featuring Philippine national colors.

Embroidery on the design reflects Pintados warriors, symbolizing bravery in battle.

Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam will serve as flag bearers for the 22-member delegation of the Philippines at the historic opening ceremony held along the Seine River.
