FEU wins Filoil Preseason Cup third place with narrow victory over Letran, 80-78

Far Eastern University secured third place in the 2024 Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup with a narrow victory over Colegio de San Juan de Letran, winning 80-78 on Wednesday.

Jorick Bautista led FEU with a team-high 21 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Royce Alforque contributed 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Featuring an impressive performance from incoming rookie Veejay Pre, who tallied 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, FEU managed to hold off Letran's late-game surge with key contributions in the final moments.

Deo Cuajao led Letran with 27 points, including seven three-pointers, as well as five rebounds and three assists, nearly leading his team to an upset victory.

FEU's massive 56-30 advantage in rebounding helped them secure their win despite committing 26 turnovers compared to Letran's 12.
