FDA approves 4 COVID-19 test kits for lab use

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved four test kits for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), two each from China and South Korea.

These kits are intended for laboratory use only, not for home testing.

The FDA released a list of approved PCR-based reagent kits that comply with its requirements under Memorandum No. 2020-006.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified during a press briefing that these kits can be used by hospitals or laboratories with testing capacity.
