DOH experts recommend Sinovac for health workers

Experts from the government and private sector recommend Sinovac's CoronaVac for healthcare workers due to its '100 percent efficacy' in preventing moderate to severe symptoms of COVID-19.

Dr. Maria Rosario Vergeire, DOH Undersecretary, stated that Sinovac was thoroughly reviewed by various health agencies and meets the goal of reducing deaths among healthcare workers.

According to Dr. John Wong, resident epidemiologist at DOH, Sinovac could have prevented 42 health worker deaths and 3,300 COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila last year if available.

Wong noted that while Sinovac offers overall efficacy of 59%, it shows higher efficacy among healthy individuals under 60 years old, with 72% efficacy for moderate to severe cases.
