Ex-city hall worker files vote-buying complaint against Mayor Vico Sotto

A former Pasig city hall employee filed a petition with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday, May 9, accusing Mayor Vico Sotto of vote buying through an assistance distribution program.

Vic Barral, who held a high position in the local government before Sotto's administration and claims to have been marginalized under it, cited an event at Tanghalang Pasigueño on May 6 where scholars received cash allowances.

Sotto cast his vote on Monday, May 12, and said he hasn't yet received a copy of Barral's complaint.

The mayor denied the allegations, citing Comelec’s March 24 approval notice that exempted several city programs from the ban, including financial aid for Pasigueño learners.

Sotto emphasized that his focus remains on ensuring smooth election conduct and called for local and national leaders to work together in maintaining peace during elections.
