Philippine ships challenge Chinese vessels in Sabina Shoal

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ships conducted patrols in Sabina Shoal near Palawan on April 27.

Seven Chinese maritime militia vessels were found moored there; Philippine authorities issued challenges via radio, but received no response.

The Chinese vessels dispersed after the challenge.

On April 29, PCG returned to find five remaining Chinese ships which also left upon arrival of Filipino vessel.

National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon confirmed that the Chinese militia vessels dispersed following the challenges.
