Escamis scores 30 in Mapua's Game 1 win over St. Benilde

Clint Escamis led the Mapua Cardinals to an 84-73 victory over the St. Benilde Blazers in Game 1 of the NCAA Season 100 finals on Sunday, December 1.

Escamis scored a career-high 30 points while St. Benilde attempted to limit his scoring but struggled with numerous turnovers and poor outside shooting, hitting only 5-of-21 from beyond the arc.

St. Benilde's Allen Liwag led the Blazers' offense with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, along with 14 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Mapua’s strong defensive effort resulted in 19 steals.

Escamis noted that winning Game 1 does not guarantee a championship title, emphasizing the importance of sustained performance throughout the series.

With Game 2 scheduled for Sunday, December 8, St. Benilde aims to improve their defense and reduce turnovers as they prepare to face Mapua again.
