EJ Obiena hosts World Pole Vault Challenge in Makati from Sept 20-21

EJ Obiena, in partnership with Atletang Ayala, will host the World Pole Vault Challenge from September 20 to 21 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati.

Obiena expressed his excitement during a recent online press conference, noting that this event has been a long-time dream for him and aims to inspire future generations of Filipino athletes.

The tournament is sanctioned by World Athletics Continental Tour-Bronze category, Asian Athletics, and the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA), with Obiena confirming his participation alongside other top pole vaulters expected to compete after the World Championships.

Participants will earn ranking points in this historic event that aims to gather some of the world's Top 10 athletes, including reigning Olympic and world champion Mondo Duplantis, who Filipinos hope will accept the invitation.

The Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge, which follows a street vaulting format, is made possible by a collaboration between the Ayala Group’s Atletang Ayala, MVP Sports Foundation, and Obiena himself, who is a two-time World Championship medalist and Asian Championships winner and record-holder.
