EJ Obiena finishes 7th at Xiamen Diamond League

EJ Obiena finished seventh place at the Xiamen leg of the 2025 Diamond League on Saturday, April 26.

Obiena cleared a height of 5.62 meters in two attempts but failed to reach 5.72 meters in his subsequent tries, marking a forgettable performance for the Filipino Olympic pole vaulter who missed the World Indoor Championships due to qualification points.

World No. 1 Armand Duplantis from Sweden won the competition by leaping 5.92 meters, while Greece's Emmanouil Karalis secured second place with a jump of 5.82 meters, followed by Netherlands' Mennos Vloon in third place.

Obiena aims to improve his performance following Shanghai next week after returning to competition in January and recovering from a back injury.

Prior to this tournament, Obiena was already fully healthy and injury-free according to his mother Jeanette Obiena.
