EJ Obiena competes against Mondo Duplantis in Mondo Classic

EJ Obiena will compete against top pole vaulters, including world record holder Mondo Duplantis, in the 2025 Mondo Classic at the IFU arena in Uppsala, Sweden on March 13.

This indoor event serves as Obiena's final preparation before transitioning to the outdoor season, where he will compete in the Asian Championships, World Outdoor Championships, and Southeast Asian Games.

Obiena aims for another podium finish after winning bronze last year with a jump of 5.91 meters behind Duplantis and KC Lightfoot.

The Mondo Classic is also a lead-up to the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China on March 21-23, though Obiena did not qualify due to his back injury recovery.

Other notable competitors include Paris Olympics medalists Sam Kendricks and Emmanouil Karalis, along with several other Olympians who average jumps of at least 5.80 meters.
