EDC provides temp power to Rolly-hit Albay, Sorsogon

Energy Development Corp. (EDC) is temporarily providing power to Albay and Sorsogon provinces hit by Super Typhoon Rolly.

Starting November 7, EDC's Bacon-Manito Geothermal Power Plant has supplied about 20 to 40 megawatts of electricity to local electric cooperatives and large commercial establishments in the two provinces.

EDC worked with Sorsogon I Electric Cooperative, Inc., Sorsogon II Electric Cooperative, Inc., and Albay Electric Cooperative, Inc. without a formal power supply agreement.

The company expressed gratitude towards National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) for facilitating this temporary power provision to areas with about 400,000 households and two million people.
