Eala-Lys face Gleason-Martins in Wimbledon doubles

Alex Eala and German partner Eva Lys will face Quinn Gleason of the United States and Ingrid Martins of Brazil in Round 1 of the 2025 Wimbledon ladies' doubles, replacing Olga Danilovic and Anastasia Potapova who withdrew due to undisclosed reasons.

Gleason and Martins are experienced players with seven WTA doubles titles between them, while Eala and Lys are relative newcomers who have only recently started partnering together.

Danilovic and Potapova, originally scheduled to play against Eala and Zarazua in the French Open, withdrew from their match at Wimbledon without providing a reason for their absence.

Despite being heavy underdogs against their more experienced opponents, Eala and Lys see Wimbledon doubles as an opportunity for redemption following their earlier exits in the singles tournament.

Eala lost to reigning champion Barbora Krejcikova in Round 1 of the singles competition, while Lys was eliminated by Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic after advancing through the first round.
