Eala loses at Nottingham Open after qualifying

Filipina tennis player Alex Eala secured her place in the main draw of the Nottingham Open by defeating Romania's Aica Todoni but was eliminated on Tuesday after losing to Poland's Magda Linette in straight sets.

Eala won against Todoni with scores of 6-3, 6(4)-7, and 6-3 before facing Linette who is ranked world No. 31 by the WTA.

In her match against Linette, Eala started strong but ultimately fell short to surrender a 6-4, 6-3 loss after an hour and 39 minutes.

Eala's performance showed resilience as she had previously defeated Varvara Gracheva in a three-setter with scores of 6-3, 3-6, and 6-3 to advance to the main draw.

The loss marks the end of Eala's participation in the grass court tournament ahead of Wimbledon which begins on June 30.
