Alex Eala eliminated from singles and doubles at W125 Mumbai Open

Alex Eala was eliminated from both the singles and doubles events at the W125 Mumbai Open on Wednesday.

In singles play, Eala lost to Japan's Mai Hontama, 6-7(5), 2-6, after a strong start in the first set but faltering in the second.

Eala briefly tied the score at 2-2 in the second set before Hontama won four consecutive games to secure her victory in an hour and 47 minutes.

Prior to this match, Eala had defeated Sara Saito in the Round of 32 by a score of 6-1, 6-0.

Eala also suffered an early exit from the doubles tournament with Chinese Taipei's Tsao Chia Yi, losing to Russia's Amina Anshba and Elena Pridankina, 6-4, 6-4.

This marks another early loss for Eala following similar exits in the Singapore Open qualifiers and the Australian Open qualifiers earlier this year.
