Eala advances but faces setbacks at WTA Mumbai

Filipino tennis player Alex Eala started her campaign at the WTA 125 Mumbai tournament with a dominant victory over Sara Saito on Monday, February 3, but faced challenges in subsequent matches.

Eala won against Saito in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, advancing to the round of 16.

On Wednesday, Eala lost in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-2, to Japanese veteran Mai Hontama in the second round of singles play.

In doubles action on the same day, Eala and Tsao Chia Yi were defeated by Russian pair Amina Anshba and Elena Pridankina with a score of 6-4, 6-4.

Despite the setbacks, Eala aims to climb back up the rankings from her current position of 137th in the world.
