Eastern Visayas health workers hit by COVID-19 surge

At least 41 health workers in Eastern Visayas have contracted COVID-19, with 36 cases from Catbalogan and five from Tacloban.

The DOH urged the public to remain vigilant and adhere to minimum health standards such as wearing masks, hand sanitization, and physical distancing.

Catbalogan Mayor Dexter Uy, aged 27, tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the first local chief executive in Eastern Visayas to be infected.

Borongan City has imposed a hard border lockdown starting Friday amid rising cases; entry and exit at borders are restricted until August 24.

Catbalogan city government placed its areas under stricter community quarantine with different levels of movement restrictions based on the number of confirmed cases, effective from August 19 to September 3.
