Eastern Visayas Covid-19 cases surge to 547

Confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in Eastern Visayas have risen to 547 as of Thursday, July 2.

As of Wednesday, at least 321 patients or 58.68% of the total cases had recovered, including 134 locally stranded individuals (LSIs), 55 local cases, 30 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and three Balik Probinsya Balik Pag-asa program beneficiaries.

Most cases are mild with only six classified as severe, among them the region's first three deaths in Kawayan, Biliran; Tarangnan, Samar; and Kananga, Leyte.

Since June 1, LSIs have been returning to their respective home provinces from Metro Manila and Cebu City after the central government downgraded movement restrictions.
