Zubiri files bill extending Bayanihan Act until September

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri has filed Senate Bill No. 1546 to extend the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act until September 30.

The bill acknowledges the ongoing national emergency and seeks to continue giving President Rodrigo Duterte special authorities to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque welcomed the filing, stating it is necessary for at least 90 more days due to the continuing extraordinary circumstances.

House Bill 6811 was also filed by Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez in the House of Representatives to extend Duterte's special powers under RA 11469.

Malacañang noted that all emergency powers granted by Congress have been utilized effectively despite the ongoing pandemic.
