DOH: Cebu's OFW protocol prevails at airport 'in meantime'

Cebu province's protocol for arriving overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and returning Filipinos will prevail at Mactan-Cebu International Airport until Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and medical experts from Manila hear the provincial government's side.

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered Cebu to follow national guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) regarding swab testing and quarantine for arriving Filipinos.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia insists on implementing her province’s own COVID-19 protocols, which differ from IATF rules in that passengers can go into home quarantine after a negative test result upon arrival.
